What is My Computer's MAC Address?
A Media Access Control (MAC) address, also known as the Physical Address, is a unique hardware identifier for your specific computer. The MAC address is not the same as your computer's Host ID. While connected to a network, a lookup table relates your MAC address to your IP (Internet Protocol) address. You will need your computer's MAC for a floating (network) license when activating the license on server computer.
To determine your MAC (physical) address, you can use the Windows Command Prompt.
- Launch the command prompt using the Run window (press Win+R on your keyboard).
- Type cmd or cmd.exe and click OK to open a command window.
- Type ipconfig /all and press Enter.
- A Physical Address displays for each adapter. The Physical Address is your device’s MAC address and typically has the form "XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX".
If more than one MAC address is shown, use the address associated with your wired network (LAN interface). Do not use addresses associated with wireless routers, tunnel adapters, virtual adapters, etc.
